CAMILLA -- Lewis Jeems Thomas, Jr., 70, of Pelham passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at Mitchell County Hospital in Camilla. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 25 at Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home with interment in Pinecrest Memory Gardens. Rev. David Pickering and Ronnie Morrell will officiate. Active pallbearers include Louie Adams, Tim Jackson, Tony West, Jimmy Bynum, Roy Garcia, Tony Drinkwater, Don Peterson, and Roger Cook. Honorary pallbearers will be the Dodge Boys Softball players.
Born October 3, 1941 in Baker County, Georgia, Mr. Thomas was the son of the late Lewis Jeems Thomas, Sr. and Edna Aurora Brunson Thomas. He was preceded in death by a son, Darron "Porkchop" Thomas, a brother, H.L. "Buddy" Thomas, and two sisters, Jeanette Dart and Hazel Williford. Mr. Thomas was retired owner and operator of Farm and Home Propane Company of Pelham and had worked with the City of Pelham for 23 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Pelham, GA. He enjoyed coaching little league baseball and was an avid sports fan.
Survivors include his wife, Vivian Taylor Thomas of Pelham; three sons, Cleteon J. Thomas of Boston, Gary Thomas and wife, Nancy, of Boston, and Ken Snipes and wife, Krys, of Pelham; two daughters, Sherry Harper and husband, Ken, of Thomasville and Pam Snipes of Vada; one sister, Lois McNease of Lavonia; fifteen grandchildren, Anthony Burnum, Melissa Brown, Chelsea Coker, Jason Harper, Ashley Thomas, Hunter Thomas, Walker Thomas, Grace Snipes, Wil Snipes, Taylor Thomas, Steven Humphries, Krissi Humphries, Kiersten Dillard, Marissa Thomas, Dakota Thomas; three great grandchildren, Swayne Burnum, Lane Brown, and Madalyn Burnum.
Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Friday, August 24 at Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home in Camilla.
