DAWSON -- Harry Edward Chambless of Dawson passed away at home Friday, August 24, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 26, 2012 at Harvey Funeral Chapel with interment to follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Rev. Jay Thomason and Rev. Horace Keen will officiate. A visitation will be held at Harvey Funeral Home on Saturday, August 25, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Harry was born in Terrell County on September 7, 1934. He served in the Army from 1957 to 1959 and worked as a farmer until his retirement. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dawson, where he was a deacon, a member of the Willing Workers Sunday School class, and a member of the Bereavement Committee. He was a past chairman of the ASCS office and served on the Hospital Board. He was also a member of Farm Bureau, where he was a past president.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Wiley and Gladys Chambless. He is survived by his wife, Carol H. Chambless of Dawson; brother, Grady Chambless and his wife, Joy of Dawson; brother, Joe Chambless of Dawson; stepson, Clay Taliaferro and his wife, Claire of Edison; stepson, Chuck Taliaferro of Albany; step-grandchild, Matthew Brown and wife, Gina; two step-greatgrandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
