ALBANY, Ga -- Marines and sailors from Naval Air Station Pensacola are headed to Albany to escape Tropical Storm Isaac, officials say.
Officials with Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany expect about 4,800 personnel to arrive on base around 7 p.m.
The decision was made Sunday to initiate the evacuations, officials say.
Leadership at MCLB Albany has activated its Base Operations Center and will monitor the evacuees' transit, arrival and will also coordinate their stay.
