CORDELE -- Funeral services for Raymond Whelchel Odom of Warwick will be held at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 28, 2012 in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services. The committal service will follow in Warwick Methodist Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service Tuesday beginning at 3:00 p.m.
Mr. Odom, 74, passed away Monday at his residence. He was born in Warwick and was the son of the late William A. and Opal Bowen Odom. He was retired from Reeves Construction Company and was a member of the Baptist faith. He was a loving husband and father, and enjoyed all of his many grandchildren. He also had a deep love for the land around him and enjoyed farming, especially raising watermelons, and gardening and raising vegetables.
Mr. Odom is survived by his wife of 29 years, Anna L. Odom of Warwick; two daughters, Karen Barnes and her husband, Don of Cordele and Karla Turner of Leesburg; three step-daughters and their husbands, Shirley and Frank Wise of Cordele, Martha Barrett of Perry and Kathy and Rick Cummings of Ft. Valley; two brothers and their wives, Cecil and Mary Odom of Cordele and Lee and June Odom of Sylvester; two sisters and their husbands, Jean and Mack Wood of Riverdale and Lela and Stan Giddens of Poulan; ten grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Odom.
