Since when has Albany done anything to keep businesses happy and keep the money in Dougherty County? By the way things are going you would think Albany-Dougherty was anti business and is trying to push money out of Albany.
The simple request says volumes about the Base's opinion of the DCSS. Apparently it isn't too good.
Just wail until after the election and you will see how much Obama loves you. The base is as good as gone.
Lee County should build a couple new schools near dougherty county and start accepting students from DCSS for fee. They will fill up quick
Im sure when Base closures are considered all things are considered even Old #34 and his mess.
John Hayes is eithet stupid himself or he has been released by the Taliban from isolatiom after 10 years
Everyone in Albany should worry about what the base thinks of the school system because closing that base will destroy this town. Of course the 80% who live on the system probably think it will help them get more free bees so they don't care. Albany is getting worse daily & know seems to care. SAD
I have a For Sale sign inmy yard. Been on Markt for a year here in DOCO
All I know is we are.leaving Thug City and Old #34 and his fine staff and Downtown Redevelopment and ASU and EDC and Pastor Heard and City Commission and John Hayes and James Bush and Velvet Riggins and Gloria Baket and Junebug and Fireworks and Civic Center and Riverquarium and Wes Smith and Don Buie.
I choose to believe John Hayes was just having a brain f(gas)t when he was opining here or he could be obliquely reminding the ruling rogues at DCSS they don't look real good. Hayes is a good man and usually a fine commissioner. It's not easy for a person in his position to criticize the Bushies and #34. The black ecclesiastical college has put the word out - no dissing the ruling rogues over yonder at the school house. The shellacking that Bush and AWB got by the entire county sent the clerics back into session and affter the white smoke out pops Brother Alonzo. Now comes the base with a pretty damned clear message and the commander doesn't have to worry about local politics. He doesn't have a dog in the fight but he is looking after his soldiers. We better be supporting him too.
CountdI personally would be willing to contribute to a fund that would help defray the cost for active soldiers children to seek other educational opportunities such as Lee County Schools or even private.
I do wish private schools could also offer as much discounts to military families as thier individual budgets allow.
Maybe a local church could manage the education fund and accept contributions specifically for education of MCLB children.
Maybe we ought to look at the bigger picture. MCLB not being married to the DCSS for education might be a positive consideration for the next BRAC review. Most Marine enlisted families cannot afford private schools. I would think more would want to come here if their kids could be decently educated. Take off your blinders Mr. Hayes.
