ALBANY, Ga. -- Albany firefighters responded to Albany's Miller Brewing plant Friday after two chemicals were accidentally mixed together, officials say.
Deputy Fire Chief Ron Rowe says that AFD's Engine 7 responded to the plant on Cordele Road to assist brewery personnel with a HAZMAT incident.
Firefighters were placed on standby as brewery personnel cleaned up the area and later returned to their station.
No one was injured, Rowe said.
MillerCoors company issued a statement regarding the issue:
At MillerCoors, maintaining a safe culture and environment at all of our facilities is our first priority. A chemical incident occurred at our Albany brewery earlier today. Our team reacted quickly and as a result, no damage occurred and no employees were harmed. Two production lines were halted and, in line with our emergency response plan, authorities were notified immediately. We are following our normal procedures to resolve the issue and expect production to start up again shortly.

They do their own clean-up before the government gets involved, because it is very expensive. The employees may suffer later, but it is business.
