SYLVESTER -- The funeral services for the late Minister Johnny K. Dawson of Lawrenceville, GA, who departed this life on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at Northside Hospital in Atlanta, GA, will be held on Sunday, September 2, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. from the Turner County Civic Center in Ashburn, GA with the Pastor Angelic Simmon officiating. Burial will follow in the Westview Memorial Cemetery in Ashburn, GA.
Johnny Kenyatta Dawson was born on April 14, 1978. He received his education in the Turner County Public School System, and graduated from Turner County High School in 1996. He attended Albany State College in Albany, GA, and later attended Beulah Heights Bible College in Atlanta, GA, where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Theology.
Johnny confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized and joined the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Shingler, GA. He served faithfully as a member of the choir, and as a choir director within the church and the community. On June 27, 2004, Johnny was ordained as a minister. He moved his membership to New Citadel of Hope Church in Atlanta, GA, and served as a Youth Minister. Johnny worked as an Account Representative with Sprint Communications.
Johnny leaves to cherish his memories a daughter, A'chanique K'yanna Dawson; a son, Di'Quavious Kentrell Farmer; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vincent and Mary Marshall of Sylvester, GA; nine brothers, Johnny Dawson, Jr. Steven Dawson, Russell Dawson, all of Cordele, GA, Curtis Dawson (Kizzy) of Sugar Hill, GA, Cornelius Hille of Tifton, GA, Jonifer Dawson of Atlanta, GA, Trae Hille (Tomekia) of Lawrenceville, GA, Byron Marshall, Eric Marshall, both of Sylvester, GA; six sisters, Carla Dawson of Atlanta, GA, Debra Dawson of Cordele, GA, Vanessa of Byram, MS, Sabrina Marshall, April Hille McCluster(Robert), both of Sylvester, GA; Shamika Hille Sutton (Michael) of Fredrick, MD; godchildren, Victoria and Alexis Simmons, both of Atlanta, GA, and Simeon Kitchen of Albany, GA
