AMERICUS -- Geraldine Barber Eason, age 82, of 2001 South Lee Street, Americus died Tuesday morning, December 4, 2012 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center in Americus. A native of Nashville, Georgia, she was born August 30, 1930 the daughter of the late Willie Alvin and Evie Barber. Mrs. Eason was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Americus.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 6 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel with Rev. William Hall officiating. The family will receive visitors at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel following the memorial service.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Carol (Carl) Ellis of Albany; two sons, Thomas Eason of Salt Lake City, Utah and John Alvin Eason of Americus; a sister, Gwynette Powell of Nashville, Georgia; a brother, Frank Tyson of Albany; two sisters-in-law, Estelle Wynn of Albany and Ruby Godwin of Lenox, Georgia and a grandson, Colby Eason of Americus. A number of nieces and nephews also survive. She is preceded in death by her husband, John T. Eason.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the League of the Good Samaritan at Magnolia Manor, 2001 S. Lee Street, Americus, Georgia 31709 and Phoebe Sumter Hospice at P.O. Box 1434, Americus, GA 31709.
