Wheelchair bumps car at gas station, woman shot

MACON, Ga. — Authorities say a motorized wheelchair that bumped into a Buick at a central Georgia gas station led to gunfire that claimed a woman's life.

Macon police say the woman was shot to death Tuesday afternoon at a Murphy Express station on Gray Highway.

Police said in a statement that a man's motorized wheelchair bumped into 65-year-old Linda Hunnicutt's car, who exchanged words with the 73-year-old man in the wheelchair.

Police say Hunnicutt got out of her Buick Lucerne, and the man in the wheelchair drew a gun and shot her in the chest.

Hunnicutt, who is from Jones County, was taken to the Medical Center of Central Georgia where she died.

The suspect, who is from Macon, was taken into custody. Information on possible charges was not immediately available early Wednesday.

Don't know what provoked the one individual to shoot the other, but maybe folks should learn to avoid confrontations and let the Police handle things like this. Now I am not saying he was unjustified, I don't know one way or the other. I certainly wouldn't go around threatening folks tho.

Unless the man was defending himself from imminent danger to his life it is murder.

Wow, I guess being handicapped is dangerous these days. If you have a wheelchair, you better be packing.

I agree with Walt in that I don't know the situation of the events, but I can't imagine the situation being that bad between old people that a man has to shoot a 65 year old woman. She must have said some heavy stuff at him and he feared maybe she was going to do something to hurt him, but golly, I don't think granny would have tried to hurt him. After all it was just a motorized wheelchair, how much damage could that have caused. I know society is getting rough these days but when you have elderly people out there doing this stuff, it is getting pretty wild.
