SYLVESTER -- Mrs. Inez Christopher Durden, 96, of Atlanta, formerly of Sylvester died Wednesday December 5, 2012 at Northeast Atlanta Rehabilitation.

The graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Hillcrest Cemetery with Dr. Ben Bush officiating.

Mrs. Durden was born on January 12, 1916 to the late William Jackson and Ruby Weaver Christopher in Meigs, GA. She had lived in Sylvester most of her life before moving to Atlanta. Mrs. Durden retired from Department of Family and Children Services as a case worker. She enjoyed playing bridge and loved to read. Mrs. Durden was a member of First Baptist Church in Sylvester and the Bykota Sunday School Class.

Survivors include her daughters Diane D. Westlake of Marietta, Patty D. Elliott (Spencer) of San Clemente, CA.; son, John A. Durden, Jr. (Carol) of Atlanta; grandchildren, John A. Durden, III (Maggie), Christopher E. Durden (Karen), Lindsay W. Arnold (William), Kaelen D. Westlake, Clay Elliott (Kellie) and Kathryn E. Navas (Carlos); brother, Lamar Christopher of Warner Robins and 6 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Durden was preceded in death by her husband John A. Durden on May 16, 1987.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Banks Funeral Home.
