City man shot during robbery

ALBANY — He almost made it clear. While running from an armed robber on the 900 block of West Highland Avenue, a 22-year-old man heard several gunshots, an Albany Police Department report stated.

By the time Scott Grant reached 840 W. Oglethorpe Blvd., about three blocks away, he realized he was shot at least once in the thigh, the report added.

Emergency personnel took Grant to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. He was later discharged.

Officers believe there could be more than one suspect involved in the robbery. Officers spread out through the West Whitney and Highland avenues and South Van Buren Street area in search of suspects, it added.

Dougherty County Police Department officers used their search dog, Goliath, to search for the suspect, described as a black man with a slender build wearing dark clothes. He was not found.
