ALBANY, Ga. — For a short time, the Albany Museum of Art is selling three different prints of the University of Georgia.

Lamar Dodd's "The Happening" depicts the scene after UGA won the 1980 National Championship.

"There was a sea of red as they stormed the field," former UGA head coach Vince Dooley said.

The original hangs in Dooley's home.

A large print (36 inches by 21.5 inches) is being offered for $200, while a medium print (24 x 14.5) is available for $100.

Appointed as an artist in residence at the University of Georgia in Athens in 1937, Dodd became the head of the university's art department several years later.

The Lamar Dodd School of Art at the university is named in his memory.

Robert Childress (1915-1983) was an American illustrator, perhaps best known for his work in the classic "Dick and Jane" books for children. He used his wife and children as models for some of the characters.

His two prints being offered are "Old College" and "President's Home." Both are 16 inch by 12 inch and are $50 each.

"These prints were donated to us with the donor telling us to raise money for the museum," AMA's Cristen Kirbo said. "What's unique is that you can't find these prints anywhere else. It's a really good deal."

The quantity of prints available is limited. To purchase one, call (229) 439-8400 or send email to info@albanymuseum.com. Shipping is available for an additional $10. Credit card, check and cash are accepted for purchases.
