ALBANY -- Bill Givens affectionately known as "Eddie James", "Crank ""Hot Rod" entered this earthly journey on March 30, 1951 to the late George "Pretty" Givens, III. and Katherine Taylor Givens in Terrell County, Georgia. A sibling who preceded him in death, George Givens, Jr. a granddaughter also precedes him in death Rodreka Givens.

Eddie James accepted Christ at early age and was baptized and a member of the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He later became a member of Greater New Morning Star Baptist Church under the leadership of his eldest son Pastor McKebia Bray, Sr. He loved church and he would frequently follow his two sons on their preacher engagement. He loved hearing ole fashion hymns raising and as he would say "I like it when them ole preachers get down". He enjoyed listen to his youngest son Marcus preach and sang he would say "my baby can a tear up a church". It excited him to know that he had two sons that are preachers and enjoyed being with them wherever they preached or singed. Daddy would often tell people "I got four boys two preachers and two gangsters like me."

He worked for Macgregor's, Doublegate Country Club as a cook and for many years as a brick mason. He worked for Henry Tinch Masonry and McKind's Masonry. Dad use to enjoy riding around pointing out places he helped to build as a master brick mason. Eddie James was a joyful person. He loved his family and always enjoyed family gathering. He Loved life and he loved fun.

Eddie James quickly transitioned from this life to be forever with the Lord on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at his home.

Bray, Sr., Roderick Givens, Ravii Mikel Givens all of Albany, Marcus Bill Givens of Valdosta, a loving mother Katherine Taylor Givens of Albany, GA; four brothers Roosevelt (Cassandra) Givens of Albany, Andrew (Cecelia) Givens of Atlanta, GA, Marvin (Tawanda) Billingsley of Jacksonville, FLA, Terrance (Dena) Billingsley of Pembroke Pines, FLA; Seven sisters Rosa Williams of Omaha, TX, Gloria (Willie James) Carey of Augusta, GA, Glenda Givens and Tracy Givens of Albany, GA, Pamela (James) Whitlow of Jacksonville, FLA, Dianne Givens of Conley, GA and Brenda (Robert) Williamson of Miami, FLA; a sister-in-law Rosenia W. Givens of Albany, GA; a loving daughter -in-law Tenesha D. Givens of Camilla, Ga; 3 Grandchildren McKesia (Javon) Hutchinson and McKebia D. Bray, Jr. both Decatur, GA, Bryce Ravii Mikel Givens of Atlanta, GA; two Great Grandchildren Courtney Monique Bray and Mya Elaine Hutchinson of Decatur, GA; a very devoted and loving niece Mignon N. Givens of Albany, GA, four aunts Artie (Thomas)Watson, Julie M. Noird, Irene Cheeks Ball, Mary Davis all of Albany; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

The funeral service will be conducted Thursday, December 13, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Union Missionary Baptist Church, 214 E. Oglethorpe Blvd. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Gardens of Memory, Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive. Visitation will be held on today, Wednesday, December 12, 2012 from 9:00 AM until 8:00PM at M. L. King Southside Chapel, 1908 M. L. King, Jr. Dr. The family will receive friends at the home of Mr. Givens son, Rev. McKebia Bray, 3403 Plantation Drive.
