ALBANY -- Cena Mosely Mathis was born January 23, 1941 in Terrell County, Georgia to the late Deacon Mann and Sister Mary Mosely.
She departed this life on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at The Willson Hospice House.
She attended Carver High School in Terrell County, and was presently a student at Troy University.
In 1989, Cena was united in holy matrimony to Jesse Mathis, a devoted husband of 23 years.
She joined Jordan Grove Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and was baptized under the pastorate of the late Rev. L. W. White. She served in the following capacities; Former Sunday School teacher, a member of the Glaze Bible Class, Financial Secretary of Jordan Grove, a member of Mission Circle #2, and a faithful member of the Senior Choir and Combined Voices where she served as treasurer until her health failed.
She was preceded in death by one daughter; Angela Kendrick Wiley, four brothers; Richard Mosely, Robert Mosely, James Mosely, Isaac Mosely, and two sisters; Azzie Brown and Molly Mosely.
She leaves to mourn her legacy of love and inspiration; a husband, Jesse Mathis; seven children, John Kendrick, Jr., Dennis Kendrick, Terrell Mathis, Vernon Mathis, Dr. Roderick Mathis, Barron Mathis and Patricia Leveston; a devoted caregiving grand daughter Natoya Hill; 26 Grandchildren, and a host of great grandchildren; six sisters, Lizzie Paige, Marie King, Cindy Bardge, Emma (Frank) Sanders of Albany and Mattie (Ernest) Wright of Richmond, VA; two brothers, Clifford (Nettie) Mosely of Orlando, FL, and Willie (Gloria) Mosely of Albany; a goddaughter, Yolanda Thomas. In-Laws: Vernice Mosely, B.T. Mathis, Jr., William (Kate) Mathis, Vera Milton, Gussie Giddens, Margie Ruth Giddens, Arthur Giddens, Jr. Freddie Lee Giddens, Eddie B. (Alma) Givens, Melvin Giddens; nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends who mourns her passing.
The funeral service will be conducted Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Jordan Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 938 Oakland Road. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held today, Friday December 14, 2012 from 9:00 AM until 8:30 PM at M. L. King Southside Chapel, 1908 M. L. King, Jr. Dr. The family will receive friends at 1706 Ann Avenue.
