ALBANY -- William C. (Mr. Bill) Phelps, 82, of Leesburg, GA, died Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at his residence. Private funeral services were held Thursday at 1:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Bobby Moye officiated. Interment followed in Crown Hill Cemetery with military honors.

A native of Mayfield, KY, Mr. Phelps had resided in the Albany area since 1959. He was retired from the United Sates Air force and served in both the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Mr. Phelps was stationed at Turner Field and retired from Warner Robins Air Force Base. After his retirement he was employed and retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara A. Phelps of Leesburg, GA, a son, James Phelps and his wife, Claire of Albany, GA, two daughters, Pennie Strong of Atlanta, GA and Rebecca Reynolds of Leesburg, GA, a sister, Rubie Phelps of Mayfield, KY and three grandchildren, Cory Reynolds, Cassie Reynolds and Dalton Reynolds all of Leesburg, GA, special caregiver, Terrance Burnette of Albany, GA and special family friends, Jennifer Lorenzo of Bay Minette, AL, James Mosley and Rhonda Wilson Harris both of Albany, GA .
