Are they also the reason I can't buy a $1.29 a pound Ribeye anymore? The Auto manufacturers were Unionized back then also.
Not the auto unions, but everything that is going on in the US today can stem back to the unions. It has gotten out of hand and they are the main reason jobs have shifted overseas. But we should have a right to work, I should not have to belong to a union to get a job. Unions know this so it has to be mandatory through bullying. The unions have killed the car industry, the post office to name a few. If a company cannot make it, the taxpayers should not bail out their pension plans!!!!
In a way, yes. In some Northern states, unions (the Teamsters) control the transportation industry therefore controlling everything from the salaries of the drivers to the cost of the freight they haul. In the northeast, remember that Southern crews were turned away from helping restore power after Hurricane Sandy because they were not union. I agree with the squawker. Any person should be able to hold a job WITHOUT being forced to join a union.
Unlike the impact of the Wisconsin public labor union laws, the Michigan law did not impact Unions directly in terms of their bargaining rights etc. The reaction of the Union members in MIchigan really looks stupid. All the MIchigan governor did was allow people to choose. After all, aren't Democrats "Pro-Choice"? Isn't that an invoilable part of the Democrat political platform?
Ah, Ruby, with the Democrats it is "free choice" as long as it is the "right choice", Meaning what the left chooses is always right, right?
No sister. They are consistent. They are pro-them-choosing-for-someone-else.
Well, maybe one day these people will see the light! Imagine refusing the services of Southern utility workers in the wake of Hurricane Sandy!! UNREAL!
Ah yes... The dreaded labor unions. The people that gave you the 40 hour work week, vacation, health insurance, profit sharing and pensions. Safe working conditions and many more things that people take for granted now. I'm old enough to remember when everyone worked 6 days a week and there wasn't any overtime. But, I'm sure there are plenty of reasons to hate unions.
People should work 6 days a week. If it was YOUR OWN business, you would work 6 or even 7 and 14 hours per day.
Another libtard comment jim, P&G don't have a union & they have some of the best benefits in the country. All unions do nowadays is protect the dead weight.
In the beginning there were no benefits. Management didn't give anything to the workers until forced to do so by unions. Just because they give benefits now doesn't meen they like to do so. It't because of unions and the dreaded government that they do.
Great posts, sister.
Maybe in the past the Unions accomplished some favorable benefits for everyone but now they are just job killers. UAW....people get laid off but still get paid because of the required worker pool, Hostess....can't deliver Twinkies and Wonder Bread on the same truck going to the same location, Worker A who was hired as a line worker cannot be asked to do anything else even if the line he/she works on is down but he/she still has to be paid for standing around. Add to that being required to pay forklift drivers, janitors, etc $20-$30 an hour and what you have is business killers and jobs being shipped overseas. So yes, what the unions have evolved into has made them more of a problem than a help.
