SYLVESTER -- Mrs. Maxine Horten Pate, 72, of Sylvester died Saturday, December 15, 2012 at her residence.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday December 18, 2012 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery with the Rev. Randolph Pate, Rev. Daryl Pate and Elder Wendell Horten officiating.
Mrs. Pate was born on August 29, 1940 in Sumner to the late Lewis Edward and Bertha Hazel Varnadoe Horten. Mrs. Pate lived most of her life in Worth County and was retired from the Sylvester Police Department after 30 years as the City Court Clerk. She enjoyed word and jig saw puzzles and making dolls. Mrs. Pate was a member of Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church in Cook County.
Survivors include her daughter, Gloria Hughes (Mike) of Cordele; sons, Randolph Pate (Angela) of Sylvester; Daryl Pate (Deborah) of Lake Park and Jay Pate (Cathy) of Sylvester; sisters, Jeanette Young of Sylvester; Daphine Pate and Inez Grant both of Sylvester; brother, Wendell Horten of Sylvester, 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Pate was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Jay Pate on January 7, 2009.
