Onlookers embrace as firefighters finish putting out the hot spots at a house in Acree Wednesday morning.
ACREE, Ga. — A morning house fire in Acree near the Worth/Dougherty County line has displaced a family of four, fire officials say.
Around 7 a.m. Wednesday morning, firefighters responded to the 4400 block of Acree Avenue in reference to a structure fire and found the home burning.
J.C. Scott, who said at the scene that he was a relative of those displaced, said that his son, Tony Scott, received burns to his head when he went back into the home to rescue the family dog.
Battalion Chief Kelly Harcrow said that the fire is believed to have originated from the kitchen area and that all the members of the family were asleep when the fire started.
J.C. Scott said his son woke up to the fire and managed to get everyone out of the house.
The American Red Cross was called in to help find accommodations for the family of four who were living in the structure.
