ATLANTA — District 5 Dougherty County Commissioner Gloria Gaines was recently named vice chairwoman of the Association County Commissioners of Georgia's Federal Policy Committee, which studies policy issues at the federal level and develops a targeted advocacy strategy to position Georgia counties as a resource on local government issues nationally.
Gaines, who previously served two years as second vice chairman of the committee, was appointed to the position by ACCG President Clinton Perry, a Taylor County Commissioner.
"I am pleased to have the opportunity to serve as vice chairman of this committee and to work on legislative issues that have a direct impact on our community," Gaines said.
DeKalb County Commissioner Jeff Rader is chairman of the ACCG's Federal Policy Committee.
