CARROLLTON — State powerhouse Greater Atlanta Christian just clipped Herald No. 3 Randolph-Clay’s girls, 52-49, in the championship game of the Carrollton Christmas Tournament on Saturday night.
Randolph-Clay coach Jennifer Acree wouldn’t mind getting another chance at GAC.
“Oh yeah, definitely,’’ she said when asked if she felt her team could beat GAC. “I’d love to play them again.”
The Lady Red Devils (9-2) were led by super freshman Kobi Thornton, who scored 22, and sophomore Adrianna Blackmon, who dropped in 12 points.
The Lady Red Devils are off until they play Eufaula (Ala.) on Jan 5, then face Herald No. 1 Monroe on Jan. 6 at home.
OXFORD (ALA.) BOYS 74, RANDOLPH-CLAY 38: The Herald No. 3 Red Devils fell to a bigger team from Alabama in the consolation finals of the Carrollton Christmas Tournament on Saturday.
Herald Super 6er Gary McRae led Randolph-Clay with 24 points. R-C next plays in the McDonald’s Invitational in Tifton on Dec. 28.
