Albany State head football coach Mike White wants to move on from the 2012 season, which ended with the Rams finishing 6-4 — their worst record since 2001 — and missing the NCAA Division II playoffs for the first time since 2004.
The Albany State Golden Rams football program lost its luster on the gridiron in 2012, finishing with their worst record (6-4) since 2001 and missing the Division II playoffs for the first time since an NCAA postseason ban was lifted in 2004.
Albany State’s season — and longtime head coach Mike White’s quest for career win No. 100 — ended Nov. 3 with a disappointing 38-20 loss to bitter rival Fort Valley State in the Fountain City Classic.
Playing with senior Division I transfer David Kooi under center, the Rams had one of their worst offensive seasons in years, finishing outside of the Top 100 in every major offensive statistical category.
After all the disappointment and frustration of 2012, White said in a postseason interview with The Herald that 2013 will be a “pivotal year” for the Golden Rams’ program.
“We can’t go back,” White said in November. “We have to go forward. That’s my job, and that’s what I plan to do — whatever we have to do to put some more Ws on the board.”

It's because good teams are afraid to schedule them Rams. That explains it.
