Annie Greene, great-grandmother to three boys who lost their mother a few years ago, explains the joy her boys got from unexpected gifts brought by Bobby and Tiffany Perry, former Albany residents who played Santa.
ALBANY — Three boys under the care of their grandmother and great-grandmother smiled, laughed and just about jumped for joy Christmas Day.
The Williams boys, Ralpheal, Jacobi, and Gerrell, all under 10 years old, received a bunch of toys and electronic games from a Douglasville couple in addition to their normal gifts.
“We look around the store and say what we want,” said Jacobi, “but gran’ always says maybe next year.”
This year, thanks to the Christmas spirit of Bobby and Tiffany Perry, the boys got a little extra. And it was greatly appreciated.
Tiffany Perry, a Monroe Comprehensive High School and Albany State University graduate, and her husband Bobby are partners in ProComm Advanced Quality Solutions in Douglasville.
“I decided to give back to the community rather than having our annual holiday party,” Tiffany Perry said. “We adopted a total of three families, one in Douglasville and two in Albany.”
Great-grandmother Annie Greene said that like many multiple-generation families living in one home, times can be tough for the Williamses and all toys sometimes don’t make it on the budget.
“It is hard. But they have food and a place to live,” Greene said. “This is just so wonderful for my boys.”
When the boys’ mother, Jewel Williams, died, the boys were on the edge of being split up and sent to foster homes. Greene said she didn’t want that. So she and the boys’ grandmother, Olivia Williams, took them to their Sweetbrier Road home to raise.
“I said ‘no’ to separation,” Greene said. “So I got to keep my three little boys.”

I trust the grandmother is making use of the free social, medical and educational programs provided by the taxpayers in the US. It's good for the three boys to have an extended family base for love and nurture. Hopefully the good samaritans worked in some support for education and character development such as church, scouting etc. These stories give me the willies. Drop off a few trinkets and the donors walk away with warm fuzzies but what's the value for the donee?
