HOOVER, Ala. — A Hoover man has been charged with attempted murder after shooting at firefighters during a medical call Thursday morning.
Firefighters were called at 4:30 a.m. to a residence in the 1600 block of Lake Cyrus Club Drive for medical assistance. As firemen entered the front door, Phillip Earl Jones, Jr., 45, allegedly fired several shots.
Jones was taken into custody and transported to Shelby Baptist Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Afterward, he was taken back into police custody.
Jones was charged with one count of attempted murder. He's being held at the Jefferson County Jail in lieu of $30,000 bond.
