Former President Jimmy Carter is not scheduled to teach Sunday School this Sunday at Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains.


The Rev. Felton Lamar will be guest speaker at the 11:15 a.m. service Sunday at Greater Pines Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. The early morning service will be delivered at 7 a.m. by the Rev. James C. Bush, church pastor. The Early Morning Choir will provide the music. Breakfast will be served at 8 a.m. and Sunday School will begin at 10 a.m.

Members of the Albany Baptist Minister’s Conference will conduct its annual observation of the Emancipation Proclamation program at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Institutional First Baptist Church, 1410 N.. Slappey Drive, The guest speaker will be the Rev. Dr. H.C. Wilson, moderator of Gum Creek Missionary Baptist Association and the Southwest Georgia Missionary Baptist Association. Wilson also serves as pastor of Saint Matthew Missionary Baptist Church in Lee County and at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Americus. He has held both positions for more than three decades.

Sherwood Baptist Church will have its regular morning worship service at 9:30 a.m. Sunday and its Bible Study for all ages at 11 a.m. Sherwood will not have an evening service Sunday.
