Spinning event will benefit the Special Olympics

LEESBURG, Ga. — Nationally acclaimed Spinning instructor Barbara Hoots will lead an hour-long video “Ride for a Reason” to benefit Lee County Special Olympics at Tony’s Gym in Albany Feb. 17.

The unique fundraising event will be limited to the first 60 riders to “buy” one of the 60 Spinning bikes available. Special Olympics supporters may either “purchase” one of the rides for $100, ask friends to make tax-deductible donations to sponsor the ride or sponsor a bike and designate a rider to take part in the 60-minute trek.

The event goal is to raise $6,000, which will be used to offset the travel costs of Special Olympians as they compete in statewide competition or host events locally. Lee County Special Olympic athletes will serve water and snacks to riders as they join Hoots for the video “journey,” which begins in Albany and ends in Jamaica.

Tony’s Gym has been recognized as one of the Top 12 Spinning facilities in America, and Hoots is one of the nation’s pioneer Spinning enthusiasts.
