Darton's Amanda Cook, a Leesburg native and former Terrell Academy star, got her first victory of the season.
LEESBURG — Darton College’s softball team got a pair of dominating pitching performances from Amanda Cook and Katy Jordan on Friday to stay unbeaten and win the first two games of the annual Darton Tournament in Leesburg.
Cook, a Leesburg native and former Terrell Academy star, guided the Lady Cavs (4-0) to a 4-1 victory in the opener against Andrew College (0-3), while Jordan gave up just two hits in her 1-0 victory against East Georgia.
It was the first win of the season for Cook, who kept Andrew off balance with her combination off curve balls, screw balls and change ups. Jessica Vason had two late RBI to give the Lady Cavs some breathing room.
Jordan took a perfect game into the fifth inning of the second game, and Chantelle Curinton scored on a Vason RBI in the first inning for the game’s only run.
The Lady Cavs finish up play in the tournament today with a game at noon against a Georgia Military College and then close out with a 2 p.m. contest against Wallace Community College.
