My car doesn't have anti-skip on the cd player. It played the same line almost down the entire street of east Broad. Next time, I'll listen to the radio.

Good luck listening to the radio unless it's sirius! It's all become so commercialized there's hardly a song to listen to from my house to work!

I was thinking about that money spent on those signs. They want to beautify Albany, they could start by repaving all these shabby potholed streets and make them look better. Some of the streets look like they haven't been paved in 20 years.

Maybe you should just slow down, and avoid as many as possible. With the budget cutbacks, I don't see things changing to quickly.

To the Squawker who doesn't know their history and wants "to live in a Socialist USA" and says the "GOP is taking us down the path to Hitler's fascism".
You forgot that Hitler's Nazi party was the National Socialist party. As soon as he gained power, all freedoms including press, worship, music, arts, travel, etc were controlled by the Nazi party. As always happens when Socialism gains power.
You missed history class on the day this was taught, it seems.

Sister, wth are you talking about? i mean, i know what you're talking about, but what does it have to do with potholes and paving streets?
Sister_Ruby 3 months, 1 week ago
You probably also forgot that Hitler's primary aim in life was to turn the German nation against the richest Germans (the Jews). Starting to sound familiar but not in the way you were thinking?

Have you looked at the heading to see what this sqawk was about? We're playing football and you're on the tennis court!

Social Security has been around since 1935; Medicare/Medicaid have been around since 1965. All of these are examples of socialism, and they've been around for a while. Yet, somehow, we haven't descended into a fascist state controlled by godless liberal heathens. Certain aspects of socialism can work; the quality of life and healthcare for Americans 65 and older is unparalleled. The other American age demographics: not even close. Why? Socialized medicine.
However, the threat of widespread socialism is a myth. Capitalism is also a myth; the U.S. has embraced/enabled corporate feudalism for years now, and the fault lies with both Republicans (pushing for decreased regulation, corporate tax cuts, etc.) and Democrats (being totally incompetent, etc.).
One more thing: you stressed the wrong word in "National Socialist Party." The Nazi party was originally created to promote German nationalism in the wake of WWI, not socialism. In fact, one of its main goals was to steer Germans away from the communist party, often by violent means. It was also more right-wing and racist than anyone in this country. Look up "volkisch" sometime; you'll get the idea.

Well money should be no problem just ask the Water Gas and Light Board to transfer some of thier new found wealth back to the City Public Works so they can fix the roads. The WG&L is in the process of buying, renovating and furnishing the old Suntrust Bank Building. And they are planing to convert at least part of the existing complex where they are now into retail and downtown condo/apartments. I am simply AMAZED that they have snuck this deal in. How can this be a justified expendature in this economic climat????????????????????????????

I'm thinking that with the speeding going on and the budget cuts. They are using these as self made speed bumps. Why spend money putting up speed bumps? just let the roads wear down with holes and there you have it....speed bumps, except in this case...speed potholes.

Apologies for hijacking the so-called Squawk of the Day. I could not help but respond to another utterly ridiculous squawk in the newspaper, parts of which I quoted in my original comment. It's a heavy burden that Sister Ruby, as a Major Prophetess, bears but when she sees something upside down and a downright lie, well she must respond while there's still time.
Where I stays the streets aren't too bad.

I think our streets are marvelous compared to Atlanta. Atlanta will bust the suspension off your car.
