SYLVESTER -- The funeral services for the late Mrs. Gladys W. Gardner of 302 Lexington Drive, Albany, GA, who departed this life on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at the Palmyra Nursing Home in Albany, GA, are incomplete at this time, will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. from the Friendship Baptist Church in Bridgeboro, GA, with the Reverend James Stokes officiating. Burial will follow in the Shepard Memorial Garden Cemetery in Sylvester, GA.
Mrs. Gladys Wooden Gardner was born on February 14, 1930 in Worth County, GA.
She was educated in the Worth County Public School system.
Gladys gave her life to Christ at an early age, and joined the Friendship Baptist Church. In her later years, Gladys served as the Mother of the Church.
She labored daily as a Cafeteria Worker, preparing and serving food to children in the Dougherty County Public School System.
She leaves to cherish her memories her daughters, Patricia (Jesse) Willis of Tampa, FL, Shirley (Wendell, Sr.) Mahatha of Mission Viejo, CA; daughter -in-law, Clovis Diane Gardner of Albany, GA; three grandchildren; sisters, Mariana (John) McCray of Baltimore, MD, Margaret (Rev. John) McLain of Newark, NJ, Louise Martin of South Carolina; brothers- and sisters-in law, Henry Gardner, Wonzie (Edna) Gardner, both of Albany, GA, Pecola (Joseph) Fowler of Atlanta, GA, Susie Gardner of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Henritta Wooden of Detroit, MI, Mittie Bell Wooden of Doerun, GA.
