Obama turning U.S. into socialist state

Look no further than your local newspaper to see how the Obama administration is trying to turn this country into a dictatorship — or total socialist state.

The president has ostracized half of his own party because he has trampled on the First Amendment. The Constitution leaves no doubt about separation of church and state, but this administration continues to believe it is above this guiding document. Left to administer as he sees fit, we will be in the same boat as Greece in no time. We are almost there now.

Within the past month, I have read articles concerning this administration’s abuse of constitutional amendments 1, 2, 5 and 9. Have we forgotten the past, or is this administration looking to incite civil war or revolt?

Anyone who is not concerned with the abuse of our Constitution is a fool; anyone who willfully supports the abuses of our Constitution, forced medical coverage, forced indebtedness and cowtowing to other countries is worse.

Give me back our country, where hard work and perseverance are rewarded, where welfare is frowned upon and not a lifestyle, where people do not have to kiss a-- to be heard, where we don’t have to send our money to OPEC instead of keeping it here and creating jobs.

The worst president we ever had has struck again, and again. When will it end?

Mr. Balch, your assessment of the Obama administration is an inaccurate one. I agree that many in this Republic need to get off their duff and do something that will help them to achieve the things they hope to accomplish. The notion that this present administration is turning this country into a socialist one, nothing could be farther from the truth. The subsidies that large farms and companies have received for a great many years at the behest of Congress has a lot to do with the mess this country is experiencing. If you would like to listen or read things that the right - wing has put before you without giving thought to other issues that have bought this country to this place in which we find ourselves, that's your perogative. The old saying about pulling your self up by your boot straps, is a myth, most people had someone to help them to achieve a measurable amount of success. The main voices that are saying the government is too large and such has benefitted from such a government. To want your country back, is to want things as it was when the ones had the ear of Congressman s to help them to go on welfare [subsidies] but leave everyone else to fend for themselves.

I was interested in how you would support your claim that the Obama administration is not moving this nation in the direction of socialism. All you did was point out that we have already been moving in that direction, while admitting that it caused problems. Moving towards socialism means the central government increases its manipulation of the economy of a nation. This is done by trying to control money flow (taking more in the form of taxes to distibute according to the wisdom of the few in power), assuming the power to tell private parties (businesses and individuals) what they may buy and sell and how to price their goods and taking control of private property. If you don't believe that these actions have increased in severity under Obama, your rose colored glasses have too much tint to them.

It shoule stop next January, but I really don't see enough Citizens getting out and voting to make this happen. I believe too many will sit at home and complain, and not enough will actually take the time to vote Obama out. Unlike his supporters whose very existance relies on continueing the Government unearned handouts. Now I can almost guarantee you they will vote.

I take opposition to Mr. Balch and the commenter position. For years, Congress gave companies and large farms subsidies [welfare] that they did not need or deserved. The current administration is trying to help everyone live a more tolerable life. You all seems to forget about all of the ruse the Republican presidents caused in using this country treasures, selective memory no doubt. While it is true that many Americans need to rise and do what they can do for themselves, everyone that has been successful, have relied on the government in some form to reach the Plato in which they have reached.

I find your comment that "everyone" who has been successful has relied on the government to reach that success interesting. Certainly, government gives us the structure for the operations of business, protection from criminals, highways for the movement of goods, etc. No one is saying government is not essential. The disagreement is about the degree to which government intrudes into the rights of its citizens. Most Republicans recognize that the more we rely on the government, the more power it has over us. The promise of that "more tolerable life" requires that you agree to restrictions in your freedoms. The small print in this social contract is "The government has the power to alter this agreement in any way it sees fit without your permission."

I take issue with your claim

“The current administration is trying to help everyone live a more tolerable life”

when in reality they are enslaving a large segment of the population with the promise vote for me and I will take care of you and no need to work or worry about your care because as long as you support me I will support you (socialism).

I find it particularly humorous that you claim

“The subsidies that large farms and companies have received for a great many years at the behest of Congress has a lot to do with the mess this country is experiencing”

yet you fail to mention the bank, car, and mortgage bailout that your King in Chief has made not to mention all the “Green” bailouts including the ones that failed already or how about the new $10,000.oo government “rebates” for overpriced “green” Volts build by Government Motors.

Just remember this

Everything you get from the GOVERNMENT was taken from someone else.

So if you are taking more out of the Pot then you put in then someone is supporting you and the Government is simply taking from one to give to another. No unearned money is FREE.

Everyone needs to Google Daniel Hannan's speech at CPAC. He is a member of British Parliament and is giving us a warning: HANNAN: "If you repeat our mistakes, if you shift power from the 50 states to Washington, from the elected representative to the federal czar, from the citizen to the state, we know exactly what lies in store for you. I've been a member of the European parliament for 12 years. I am living in your future, or at least the future towards which your present leaders seem intent on taking you. And believe me, my friends, you are not going to enjoy it. European health care, European day care, European college education, European nuclear disarmament, European carbon taxes, the whole package. And I'll tell you, when you adopt those things, you don't just become like any other country. You become less prosperous, less independent, less Democratic, and less free. We are at the end of the road that you have just set out along. We're screeching towards the cliff, and a couple of us, a very small number of us in the parliaments of Europe are trying desperately to jam the brakes on while there is still time. And you know what? We look up and what do we see in our rearview mirror."

Wow. With those keen analytical minds, how do these people manage to drive down the street without running every red light and crashing into every parked car. Cause they sure can't perceive reality. Obama a Socialist? If only. If he were, we would have had a single payer plan and Medicare for all. Wall Street cronies wouldn't have filled top economic slots in his Administration. He would have prosecuted the crooks responsible for the 2008 crisis. He would have been for public financing of elections and not for raising hundreds of millions from special interests. Socialist? You guys need to buy a dictionary.

The M.O. for the socialist/ communist, whenever violent overthrow is not practical, is slow and steady. Go back thirty years and you will find that many warnings by the conservatives which were pooh-poohed as paranoia by liberals and the press have now come about.

@Skiba

As a political movement, socialism includes a diverse array of political philosophies, ranging from reformism to revolutionary socialism. Proponents of state socialism advocate for the nationalisation of the means of production, distribution and exchange as a strategy for implementing socialism. Social democrats advocate redistributive taxation in the form of social welfare and government regulation of capital within the framework of a market economy

Social democracy is an international political movement and political ideology that has undergone three major phases throughout its history. In contemporary uses, social democracy generally refers to advocacy for some form of regulation of the economy and support for a welfare state and ameliorative measures to benefit the working class within the framework of a market economy structured upon private enterprise. Historically, social democracy is generally defined as a political movement that seeks to build an alternative socialist economy gradually through the institutions of liberal democracy..

I can understand Mr. Balch's anger and fear that his beloved country is turning into a dictatorship, since he sounds like a young person without much history. I would like to assure him that whether President Obama is relected or not, this country is going in the direction that has been preordained before his birth. There is no need to panic if you take a biblical view of God being in charge. There is no need to panic if you understand the constitution (really understand) and how the House & Senate votes (2/3 in the senate). There is a need to panic if you chose to take on fear when a bill is passed that disagrees with you or your party as a world disaster. There is a need to panic if you think that 80% of the country agrees with your opinions. DON'T FEAR, MY COUNTRY IS DIVIDED IN HALF and that is the best thing about it. Sometimes people believe that if they display anger and disdain it will translate into an idea that they are right. We are all voicing opinions.
