COLUMBUS — Lee County’s Lady Trojans, the top seed from the southern end of Region 1-AAAA, opened the region tournament with a 64-49 win against Houston County at Northside, Columbus High on Monday.
Lee County (14-8) will play Northside, Warner Robins at 7 p.m. on Thursday in the semifinals.
Herald Super 6er DaQuenna Moore had another big night with a routine double-double, dropping in 14 points and grabbing 15 rebounds.
Maggie O’Connor led Lee with 20 points, and Briana Scott scored 19.
“Maggie hit four 3s and had a great game, and Briana just kept driving to the basket,’’ Lee County coach Fan McPherson said. ‘’They really stepped it up and led us.’’
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------COLUMBUS — Bainbridge (16-9) had five players in double figures: Takeia Crankfield (21), Briana Wade (15), Richana Jackson (13), Alex Carter (12) and Diamond Bouie (10) and beat Hardaway 73-59 to advance to Thursday’s 4 p.m. Region 1-AAAA semifinals against the winner of the Warner Robins-Northside, Columbus game.
