SYLVESTER -- Mrs. Arial Coonrod, 90, of Baconton died Wednesday February 15, 2012 at Willson Hospice House in Albany.
The graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday February 17, 2012 at Andersonville National Cemetery with Rev. Bobby Woods officiating.
Mrs. Coonrod was born on January 26, 1922 to the late Albert Zane and Florence Benckert Myers in Philadelphia, PA. She has lived in Baconton for the past three years moving there from St. Mary's where she had lived for 20 years. Mrs. Coonrod was a veteran of World War II serving in the Womans Army Air Corp. She enjoyed the beach, fishing, and was a member of Lighthouse Church of God in St. Mary's GA. Mrs. Coonrod was not only a loving mother to her own children but she helped raise most of her grandchildren. She was also a loving mother to most of the children in the neighborhoods where she lived. She never thought of herself but always the ones she loved; giving them all.
Survivors include her children Sharen L. Drouillard and husband Dewey of Milledgeville, George F. Coonrod, Jr. and wife Joyce of Kingsland, Bonnie J. Dubbert and husband Dale of Marble Head, OH., Debbie L. Wheeler and husband James of Baconton, Robert E. Coonrod and wife Susan of Albany and Kimberly L. Speed of Woodbine 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Coonrod was preceded in death by her husband George Franklin Coonrod on December 2, 1985 after 45 years of marriage, children, Richard Daryl Coonrod, Joanne Arnold and Carolyn Louise Coonrod.
