STATESBORO -- Mr. Brantley Chester, 84, of Albany, GA, died Wednesday, February 15 at his home under the care of Albany Area Community Hospice.
Brantley was born in Statesboro, Georgia to the late Gordon and Lila Chester. He lived in Claxton, GA for 19 years where he was co-owner of Claxton Truck and Tractor Company and a member of the First Baptist Church of Claxton. He and his wife moved to Albany, GA in 1972 where he was a heavy equipment sales person, retiring from Jesco of Albany in 1989. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Albany.
Mr. Chester was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Waldo and Austin Chester.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Martha Kate Howard Chester of Albany; a daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Johnny Lane of Rome, GA, and a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Robin Chester of Albany, GA; five grandchildren: Kimberly Jones, Brant Lane, Trent Lane, Alyson Chester, and Wesley Chester; seven great grandchildren, brother, Roy Chester of Virginia and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday evening, February 17, 2012, from 5pm to 8pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.
Funeral services will be Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 3pm in the chapel of Joiner Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro with Rev. Jimmy Burnsed and Bro. Brant Lane officiating.
Interment will be in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery in Statesboro.
