CUTHBERT -- Charles Peyton Gleaton, Sr., 72, of Cuthbert died February 15, 2012 at his residence. A graveside service will be conducted February 18 at 11 a.m. in Oak Grove Cemetery in Arlington with Chip Reese officiating.
Mr. Gleaton was born December 24, 1939 in Arlington, GA, son of the late William Leck Gleaton, Sr. and Mary Collier Gleaton. Mr. Gleaton was a retired electrician and serviceman, having operated Gleaton Heating and Cooling Co. He was a Baptist and served in the U.S. Marines, having served as a specialist in electronics and as a radio relay technician. Mr. Gleaton was a member of The National Rifle Association.
Survivors include his wife, Anne Knighton Gleaton of Cuthbert; a son, Charles Peyton (Wendy) Gleaton, Jr. of Pelham; two daughters: Susan Gleaton (Spence) Sealy of Columbus and Kathryn Gleaton (Daniel) Pieper of Leesburg; two grandchildren: Katie-Spencer Sealy and William Sealy of Columbus. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Leck Gleaton, Jr. and Collier Gleaton, and a sister, LeNan Fowlks.
The family will receive friends Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
