ALBANY -- Mr. Jim Dave Wilson, of Livingston, NJ died on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 in Livingston, NJ. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 20, 2012 at 1:00 PM from Covenant Presbyterian Church with Dr. W.D. (Biff) Coker, Pastor and Reverend Darrell Leggett officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery.

Jim Dave Wilson, Jr., was born December 19, 1935 in Albany, GA and quietly fell asleep, February 14, 2012 at his home in Livingston, NJ. He was the oldest of three children, born to the late Reverend Jim Dave Wilson, Sr. and Mymie Sconiers Pouncy Wilson. His younger siblings preceded him in death.

Jim attended the public schools of Dougherty County, receiving his diploma from Monroe High in 1953. Upon his graduation, he entered Albany State College. While matriculating as a student, Jim was a member of the Choir, Drama Club, and French Club. He was also Senior Class President. On December 4, 1954, he was initiated into Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Albany State College and later earned a Masters of Arts degree and a Specialist Degree from New York University.

Jim's Journey as educator began as a teacher in Telfair County, GA and concluded as a vice principal in Elizabeth, NJ, retiring after forty-two years of service. During his tenure as a school administrator, he also worked as an adjunct professor at Bloomfield and Essex County Colleges.

Jim was married to the former Grace Pyron. To this union two sons were born, Jim Dave, III and Dario Darrell. Dario preceded his father in death. Years later Jim married the former Rubye Davenport. This this union one daughter was born, Sherri Nicole.

As a child, Jim began his Christian walk at the Friendship Baptist Church. He later united with the Presbyterian Church, where he faithfully served in various capacities, Elder in South Park Presbyterian and Livingston Presbyterian Churches, President of Trustees at Livingston Presbyterian Church, Moderator in Newark Presbytery, Trustee Board of Newark Presbytery, Director at Presbyterian Church USA, and Commissioner of Presbyterian Church USA.

As a Life Member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated, Jim held several offices in the fraternity throughout the years. Some of these include: Alpha Alpha Lambda Chapter as President and Financial Secretary, New Jersey State Director Alpha Phi Alpha, Board of Directors -- Alpha Phi Alpha Eastern Region Education Foundation, and President Alpha Phi Alpha -- Eastern Region Education Oratorical Contest. He was also active in his community, having served as President of the Kiwanis Club of Livingston, NJ and President of the Albany State University Alumni Association New Jersey Chapter. He received Service Awards from United Way of Essex County and Kiwanis Club of Livingston.

Jim leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife, Rubye Davenport Wilson of Livingston, NJ; a son, Jim D. (Faye) Wilson, III of Lithonia, GA; a daughter, Sherri N. Wilson of Coral Springs, FL; three grandchildren, Jimesa Wilson, Adrianne (Caryell) Harris and Jim D. Wilson, IV all of Lithonia, GA; two great grandchildren, Malachi and Elizabeth Faye Harris both of Lithonia, GA; a dearly beloved sister, Claudia (Elijah) Foster of Albany, GA; three sisters-in-law, Willie L. Williams and Christine Watson of East Orange, NJ, and Neilie M. Lovely of Pensacola, FL; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
