Monteel Brooks Willis

SYLVESTER -- Mrs. Monteel Brooks Willis, 86, of Albany formerly of Sylvester died Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at the Hillcrest Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Davis officiating.

Mrs. Willis was born on March 28, 1925 to the late Henry Silas and Abye Louise Wheeler Brooks in Quitman. Mrs. Willis owned and operated Radium Coiffures and formerly taught at the Albany School of Beauty Culture. She enjoyed crafts, baking, collecting and making antique dolls. Mrs. Willis was a member of Pinson Memorial United Methodist Church and a 50 year member of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include her daughters, Vanna Cox (James) of Albany, Charlene Gaddy of Leesburg; grandchildren, Karen Cox, Kevin Cox and Michael Miller and a great grandchild, Bethany Fountain.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Willis was preceded in death by her husband Frank M. Willis on December 19, 1974, a son Charlie Alfred (Al) Miller, Jr. on August 7, 2004, granddaughter Beverly Carmen Gaddy, siblings Wheeler Croft, Silas Brooks, Lorene Watson, Lucy Davis, Mildred Cason and Norman Brooks.

The family will receive friends immediately following the services.

Montee, as she was known to me, was a special person with whom my Mother, Sylvia Jordan, worked years ago. She was filled with fascinating stories and lots of wisdom from an interesting life well lived. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her!!!
