Club provides items to project

ALBANY — The Jollye Jacks Civic and Social Club has completed a project in which personal items were donated to one of their outreach projects — Haven of Hope, which is a new development.

The members of Jollye Jacks provided the outreach organization with toiletries and paper products. Barbara Marshall is president of the club.

Delta Delta takes firsts at district

ALBANY — Delta Delta Chapter (Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity) of Albany State University returned to campus with several honors based on its participation at the 56th Annual Georgia District Conference in Macon in December.

Quenton Matthews participated in the Belford V. Lawson Oratorical Contest and did an outstanding job. Delta Delta Chapter won first place in the Dr. John Hope Franklin Collegiate Scholars’ Bowl Finals by defeating the Alpha Rho (Morehouse) Chapter; first place for presenting the Most Outstanding Project in the District, and second place for the Step Show Competition.

The Scholars’ Bowl Team consisted of Edward Collins (captain), Alex Covin, Kristian Jones and Devaun Lightner. The Step Team included Quenton Wright, Bruce Colvin, II, Christopher Atkinson, Quenton Matthews, Javier Woods, Edward Collins, Christopher Reed, Alexander Covin, Cornelius Spearman, Amari BenLevi, Alex Perryman, Demitri Nadar, Ansley Williams and Richard Adams.

According to Prince P. Reid III, Gamma Omicron Lambda chapter president, “Our College brothers are committed to pursuing academic excellence and focused on developing their leadership skills to become servant/leaders in this global society, and we are extremely proud of their efforts.”
