ALBANY Individuals with diabetes have to be careful about what they eat. Knowing the ins and outs of how different foods can affect someone with the condition can be a big help.
Suzanne Williams, the Family and Consumers Sciences agent with the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension office in Albany, will lead demonstrations and hand out recipes about cooking for those with diabetes.
The classes will be March 15, 22 and 29 at the Dougherty County Health Department, 1701 S. Slappey Blvd. Each two-hour class starts at 10 a.m.
Participants will learn how carbohydrates affect the diabetic diet, seven ways to control your blood pressure and how portion control is a key to controlling diabetes.
The event is free to the public.
Contact Suzanne Williams at (229) 436-7216 to register.
