ALBANY -- Funeral services for the late Mr. Edward Adams of Smithville, GA who departed this life on February 16, 2012 at his home will be conducted on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 11:00 AM from Friendship Baptist Church in Americus, GA where Rev. Melvin McCluster is pastor and words of comfort will be given by the Rev. Leon Pace. Burial will follow in Jerusalem Baptist Church Cemetery.

A time to be born: Edward Adams, son of the late Willie Adams, Sr. and Alice Johnson Adams was born November 10, 1950 in Lee County, GA.

A time to live: He was educated in the public schools in Lee County, GA. He was a faithful employee for over twenty years at Georgia Pacific, ten years at Target Containers both n Albany, GA and six years at Stone Container Box Company in Atlanta, GA.

A time for peace: Edward departed his life on Thursday, February 16, 2012 in Sumter City, GA. He is preceded in death by his father, Willie Adams, Sr.; two brothers, Willis Adams, Jr. and Glenn Mark Adams; two nephews, Charles Alexander Smith and Delvin Dennard Adams. He leaves to cherish his memories four children, James (Christine) Witcher of Americus, Shanton Fuller Adams of Atlanta, Richard Smith of Philadelphia, and Takeeka Bradley of Americus; four grandchildren, Corpavious Ramey and De'Marco Ramey of Atlanta and Ka'Shayla Snipes and Darren Davis of Americus; four great grandchildren, Corpavious Ramey, Jr., De'Marco Ramey, Jr., La'Tayshie Ramey and Cortez Ramey of Atlanta; a devoted mother, Mrs. Alice Johnson of Smithville; seven brothers, Ernest (Mary) Adams of Garner, NC, Robert (Linda) Adams of Smithville, Eugene (Patrice) Adams of Decatur, GA, James Adams of Boston, MA, Clifford (Cathy) Adams of Colchester, VT, Wallace (Pam) Adams of Decatur, GA and Albert Adams of Smithville, GA; six sisters, Mary Alice Adams of Doraville, GA, Naomi Adams of Smithville, Margaret Adams of Atlanta, Lillian Adams of Smithville, Debra Ann Adams of Stone Mountain, GA and Annie Ruth (Marvin) Hughes of Denton, TX; a host of nieces and nephews he helped raise; one uncle, Marshall Johnson of Leesburg; eight aunts, Flossie Dodson, Willie Mae Davis, Johnnie Mae Johnson of Smithville, Ruby Dean Allen and Claudia Dismuke of Hartford, CT, Nettie Whitaker of Macon, Annie Sampson of Americus and Margaret Harris of Albany; a special friend, Sandra Bradley of Sumter City, GA; two ex-wives, Angleynn Adams of Atlanta, GA and Molly Adams of Albany, GA; one sister-in-law, Shirlean Adams of Americus, GA; and close friends, Bernie Brown, Sammie Mays, Charles Cleveland, Al Gay and Mary Lee Johnson.

the remains of Mr. Adams will lie-in-state at the church on Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until the funeral hour. Family will receive friends and relatives at the home of his mother, Mrs. Alice Adams of 110 Boulevard Street in Smithville, GA.
