ALBANY -- A 23-year-old mother of two children who disappeared for four days has been located, her children's grandmother said.
Grandmother Sandra Jones reported Amy Elizabeth Mein missing to Albany Police Department officers at about 7 p.m. Tuesday because she feared for Mein's life after not hearing from her since Sunday night.
A bewildered Mein was found at the 2706 N. Slappey Blvd. Dollar Inn just before noon Thursday by her parents, Linda and Jimmy Anderson, Jones said.
"She was confused. She didn't know what day it was or how long she was gone. She didn't even know she hadn't talked to her kids in four days," Jones said. "I hate what this city has become. I showed her picture at five motels."
With the picture of Mein, Jones visited a series of motels along North Slappey Boulevard Wednesday night. Jones believes some of those hotels are crack houses, where information is difficult to obtain.
Jones said that finally a clerk at Dollar Inn recognized Mein. Jones took the first shift in a family stakeout to wait for her.
Mein's parents took the next shift and saw their daughter at the motel. They confronted her and then took her to jail, Jones said.
Jones acted to have Mein's bail revoked. Mein was booked into the Dougherty County Jail, a jail spokeswoman said.
Jones said she wanted Mein to get treatment.
