ALBANY — Cavoris Harvey ran, but deputies caught him at about 10 a.m. Friday on the 1600 block of Owens Avenue, said a Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office official.

“It was a foot pursuit but deputies apprehended him,” said sheriff’s Capt. Craig Dodd. “He was booked into Dougherty County Jail at approximately 10:45 (a.m.).”

Cavoris Harvey was the last of three men arrested for an armed robbery and shooting on Dec. 26 at the Paradise Village mobile home park at 600 Holly Drive. His first appearance before a judge is planned for today.

Previously arrested in the Dougherty County Police Department case were Natan Witter III and Cedric Wingfield. All three men are in jail facing multiple charges including aggravated assault, aggravated battery and armed robbery, said a jail spokeswoman.

According to police reports, as Augustin Cabrera-Lopez and two of his friends grilled chicken behind their trailer residence, the three accused approached and asked for beer.

Witter, Wingfield and Harvey then assaulted the residents. Cabrera-Lopez was shot above his left eye. He is recuperating. Police have not yet said who was the shooter.

The assailants took an undetermined amount of cash and drove away in an apparently borrowed blue Saturn. The Saturn was abandoned and returned to its owner. Citing the continuing investigation, police did not release the owner of the Saturn’s name.

Anyone with additional information should call Crime Stoppers at (229) 436-TIPS (8477) or the Dougherty County Police Department at (239) 430-6600. The Spanish speaking APD-COP Tip Line is (229) 434-2677.

I applaud DOCO and the SO in catching these criminals. They committed a crime against Hispanic people who were reluctant to talk about the crime because where they come from, they fear the police. Through the efforts of a few interpreters, they were able to convince the victims to cooperate and in such, took some scum off the streets so they don't have a chance to prey on us.

Don't worry...our brilliant judges will let them out and be put back on the streets again.
