ALBANY — Persistence paid off for Lane Rosen in his quest to bring Southwest Georgia favorite Corey Smith back to the State Theatre.

“We kept making offers and it never seemed to work out,” Rosen said of his overtures to lure Smith back to the downtown Albany venue. “Finally, it fit into Corey’s schedule and they accepted our offer.”

Smith, who will play at the Albany venue on March 10, is touring in support of his 2011 album release “Broken Record.” He’s bringing rising Nashville stars Florida Georgia Line as an opening act.

“This is really the perfect time of year for a show like this,” Rosen said. “It’s far enough removed from Christmas and far enough away from spring break. There are a lot of fans from around here who will be glad to welcome Corey back to Albany.”

Indeed, Smith is working on a string of four consecutive sold-out shows at the State, the last slightly more than a year ago. He said in an interview with The Herald before last year’s show that he connected instantly with music fans in the Good Life City.

“The first time I was scheduled to play there, I lost my voice the night before and I thought the people in Albany were going to hate me,” Smith said. “But their reaction was amazing. Playing in Albany has been nothing but a great experience for me.”

Tickets for the Saturday-night show, which are $15 in advance and $20 the day of the event, are available now at Moe’s Southwest Grill, Harvest Moon, Blush Fashions and at coreysmith.com.

Doors at the State open for the all-ages show at 7 p.m., and music starts at 9 p.m. Information is available at www.statetheatrealbany@gmail.com or by calling (229) 344-2237.
