CAMILLA -- John Alton Barrentine, 83, of Pelham, died Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at Mitchell County Hospital in Camilla.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 2 at Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home with interment in Pinecrest Memory Gardens with military honors. Jimmy Stewart and Melissa Laughon will officiate.
Active pallbearers will be Mark Forgey, Jason Barrentine, Chris Giles, Johnathan Barrentine, Clay Barrentine, Clint Morrell, Matthew Barrentine, and Andrew Morrell. Honorary pallbearers will include Woody Eubanks, Trey Eubanks, Ronnie Lamons, Larry Scarborough, John May, and Beech Williams.
Born April 9, 1928 in Cottondale, Florida, Mr. Barrentine was the son of the late Lee and Vassie Shouppe Barrentine. He was preceded in death by a son, Ronnie A. Barrentine and a brother, Colon Barrentine. Mr. Barrentine was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He was a retired truck driver.
Survivors include his wife, Edna Barber Barrentine of Pelham; one son, Johnny Barrentine and wife, Debbie, of Camilla; five daughters, Jackie B. Johns of Camilla, Barbara Giles and husband, Tommy, of Bartow, FL, Sara Hobbs and husband, Mark, of Pelham, Vickie Morrell and husband, Scottie, of Tallahassee, FL, and Diane Forgey and husband, Lee, of Polk City, FL; one brother, Huey Barrentine of Cottondale, FL; fourteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. He is also survived by his four legged grandkids: Buddy, Bo, and Bella.
Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday, March 1 at Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home in Camilla.
