MOULTRIE — The Lee County baseball team is off to an unbeaten start to the 2012 season after toppling Colquitt County on Tuesday, 4-1.
Senior Jess Posey has looked thus far in his return from injury and is off to a 2-0 start on the mound. He went five innings Tuesday, gave up one run on five hits and struck out seven to go along with two walks. All of Posey’s hits he gave up were singles.
Posey also notched a double and an RBI in the win, while Daniel Nichols was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Andrew Stround and Pedro Cruz both added an RBI.
Lee County next hosts Tift County on Friday at 6 p.m.
BACONTON-CHARTER 10, ALBANY 1: Baconton-Charter starter William Sullivan allowed just one hit in four innings to lead the Blazers to a victory on Tuesday against Jakori Oliver and the Albany High Indians.
Ryan Faircloth led the Blazers at the plate with three runs on two hits and two walks.
MILLER COUNTY 5, PELHAM 1: The Pirates (2-2) opened subregion play with a convincing win Tuesday thanks to Cole Vann’s 13 strikeouts. Vann went the distance, gave up just two hits and also added an RBI triple. Jake Warren went 1-for-3, including a double, with three RBI, and T.T. Barber finished 1-for-3 with an RBI single.
Cody Godwin went the distance for Pelham in the loss. Miller next plays at Worth County today.
