DAWSON -- Mary Swann Nicholson, 90, of Dawson passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at Willson Hospice House in Albany. Funeral services will be held at Harvey Funeral Chapel at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, January 6, 2012. Interment will be held in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Rev. Charles Jones and Rev. Horace Keen will officiate. A visitation will be held at Harvey Funeral Home on Thursday, January 5, 2012 from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M.
Mary was born in Carnegie, Georgia on February 26, 1921 to the late Ross Swann and the late Eunice Lanier Swann. She was a retired teacher, having worked in the Terrell County School System. She was a member of the Old Herod Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Mary Brantley Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the Retired Teachers of Terrell County, and the First Baptist Church of Dawson.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, James Lawrence Nicholson, Sr., and her son, James Lawrence Nicholson, Jr.
Survivors include her son, Walter S. Nicholson (Martha) of Dawson; daughter, Martha Nicholson Jenkins of Franconia, N.H.; daughter-in-law, Juanita Nicholson of Barnesville; cousins, Lester Ware, Jr., Carl Swann, and Elizabeth Wiggins; grandchildren, Mark Nicholson, Randal Nicholson, Traci Nicholson Howard (Jeff), Bethany Jenkins (John Denaro), Lauren Beck (T.J.), William Jenkins, James Nicholson (Kedron), and John Nicholson; and five great-grandchildren.
