ALBANY -- Jim Thompson, 53, of Leesburg, GA, finished his journey on earth December 28, 2011. He left peacefully to join our Lord from his home surrounded by his wife of 29 -1/2 years, his children and close family.

Jim was diagnosed with Renal Cell Carcinoma in June, and fought a brave honorable fight.

He was born in Portsmouth, Ohio October 13, 1958 to Aileen Elizabeth Johnson and Harold Howard Thompson. Jim and Robin were married on June 26, 1982. He is predeceased by his father Harold Thompson and step father, Dutch Cook. Survivors include his wife Robin, Jeremiah (son), Sarah (daughter), Hannah (daughter), Liz Cook (mother), Mary Thompson (step mother), and a brother Tom Thompson (Debbie Davis).

Known as "Big Jim" or "Coach" by friends and colleagues, his involvement in the community and investment in others reflected his tender heart. We all learned much from him. He was a dad to many, not just his own, and showed his love, encouragement, and support for those who needed him most.

He worked for Ingersoll Rand Air Compressor Company for 31 years. Jim accomplished much receiving many accolades and awards throughout his career, including "Number One" Air Center Manager in the country and "Top Sales" repeatedly, earning the admiration and respect of colleagues and clients alike across the nation.

His favorite pastimes were golfing, fishing, hunting, football (Roll Tide!) and baseball. All enjoyed with family friends.

He deeply loved his wife and children showing unending love and support of them in so many ways. They enjoyed a precious relationship not many are privileged to experience.

A memorial/celebration will be held January 14, 2012 at 11:00 at Breakaway Church on Forrester Parkway, Leesburg with Reverend Tim Bice officiating.

Job well done, Big Jim! Mission accomplished! We'll miss you for now and will see you later...
