ALBANY — One suspect was arrested and two more are sought in connection with a shooting and robbery on Dec. 26 at Paradise Village off the 600 block of Holly Drive, a Dougherty Police Department official said Friday.

Cedrick Kid’co Wingfield, 27, was arrested by police at about 9:30 a.m. Thursday, according to county police Detective Sgt. Chad Kirkpatrick. He was charged with three counts of aggravated assault, armed robbery, aggravated battery and possession of a firearm by a felon, among other crimes, Kirkpatrick added.

“We are also looking for Cavoris Harvey and another unidentified man for the shooting,” Kirkpatrick said. “Both men are felons.”

According to police reports, as Augustin Cabrera-Lopez and two other men grilled chicken behind their trailer residence, the three men approached in a friendly manner asking for beer. There was an assault on the residents, and Cabrera-Lopez was shot near his eye.

Wingfield, Harvey, 24, and the third unknown man took an undisclosed amount of cash and drove away in a blue 2002 Saturn.

Police located the Saturn, learned it wasn’t stolen and returned it to its owner, Kirkpatrick said. Citing an ongoing investigation, he would not disclose the owner’s name or relationship to the three men suspected of the armed robbery and injuring of Cabrera-Lopez. Carbrera-Lopez is recovering from his injury.

Anyone with additional information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (229) 436-TIPS (8477) or the Dougherty County Police at (229) 430-6600. The Spanish-speaking APD-COP tip line is (229) 434-2677.

How can you shoot someone in the head and only be charged with assault ? In the real world it would be attempted murder.
