TIFTON — David Charles Summers, also known as “Super Dave” has been named a suspect in the murder of a 31-year-old man from Tift County Saturday.
Officials with the Tift County Sheriff’s Office say that Summers, 26, was still at large Monday afternoon in connection to the shooting death of David Tyrone Barnes.
The shooting took place at around 5:20 p.m. Saturday on Washington Avenue and Shiloh Drive, according to reports provided by authorities.
Barnes lived on the 600 block of East Golden Road in Tifton. Early indications were that there had been reports of a subject on the ground that had been shot at James Avenue and Washington Avenue, and Barnes was found unresponsive on Shiloh Drive off of Washington Avenue.
There were witnesses to the incident, but a suspect was not positively identified immediately after the shooting.
David Haire, public information officer with the Tift County Sheriff’s Office, told The Albany Herald Monday afternoon that authorities were working alongside investigators with the GBI to look further into the case.
As of that time, no arrests had been made in the connection to the incident.
