DAWSON -- Horace Franklin Thursby, 62, of Dawson passed away at his home on Monday, January 9, 2012. Funeral services will be held at Harvey Funeral Chapel at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, January 12, 2012. Interment will be held in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Rev. Brian Johnson and Rev. Thomas Newman will officiate. A visitation will be held at Harvey Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.
Frank was born in Oak Ridge, Tennessee on June 10, 1949 to Grace Marion Dyches Thursby and the late Horace Thursby. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, a member of the Brotherhood and former Sunday School Director. Frank was a veteran of the Vietnam War and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He touched the hearts of all those who knew him and was dearly loved by his family.
Survivors include his wife, Geneiva W. Thursby; his mother, Grace Marion Thursby; brother and sister, John "Ricky" (Judy) Thursby of Donalsonville and Rita Braswell (Chad) of Brinson; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Linda Holloway of Leslie, Bobby and Sandra O'Stean of Dawson, and Donald Watson of Opelika, AL; 11 nieces and nephews and 9 great-nieces and great-nephews.
