ALBANY -- Ms. Kate Pendleton Lenhardt Owens, 83, of Albany, GA, died on January 1, 2012 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital after a short illness.
A native of Atlanta, GA, Ms. Owens had resided in Albany for the past 13 years. She was a fourth generation Atlantan and her great grandfather was Judge John L. Pendleton of Superior Court in Atlanta, GA. Mrs. Owens graduated from Washington Seminary in Atlanta where she was a member of the Phi Pi Sorority. She graduated from Mt. Vernon Junior College in Washington, DC with an A.A. Degree, after which she graduated from the University of Georgia with a B.S. in Education and was a member of the Phi Mu Sorority. Ms. Owens was a member of the Second Ponce DeLeon Baptist Church in Atlanta. She was a former debutante, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and a Sustainer Emeritus of the Junior League of Albany, GA. Ms. Owens was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Lenhardt of Atlanta, GA.
Survivors include three sons: Blanton Owens, Macon, GA, Cliff Owens (Martha), Chuck Owens (Beth), all of Albany; GA; grandchildren: Ashley Owens Wood (Rob), Boston, MA, Jeremy Owens, Burlington, VT, Dawson Owens, III and Kristine "Tine" Owens, Albany, GA, Preston Laird, Savannah, GA, Bryan Owens, Henrico, VA, Shannon Owens and Daniel Adcock, Albany, GA, Erin Adcock, Duluth, GA; one great grandchild: Julian Alexander Wood, Boston, MA; a cousin: John P. Stewart, Atlanta, GA.
A private family service was held at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta, GA on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 2 PM.
