4-H horse club to meet for 2012

ALBANY .265— The first Dougherty County 4-H Horse Club meeting of 2012 will take place Jan. 19 at 7 p.m. in the Candy Room at 125 Pine Ave. This will be a meet and greet with time to fill out all necessary forms for the year. Jessica Dorsey is the county 4-H Youth Development person and she will explain the core values. Officers will also be elected at this time. Monthly meeting will follow. Extension office looks for Master Gardeners

ALBANY .265— The Dougherty County Extension office is looking for persons who would like to become a Master Gardener and serve their communities with other garden enthusiasts. Training for certification as a Master Gardener will be offered through the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension office in Dougherty County. Classes will be held every Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon beginning March 6 and concluding May 9 at the Dougherty County Extension office, 125 Pine. Thronateeska kicks off astronomy series

ALBANY .265— The Thronateeska Heritage Center kicks of their astronomy Series on Tuesday at the Thronateeska Heritage Center, 100 W. Roosevelt Ave., from 7 p.m. - 8 p.m. The program will include a 25-minute film in the planetarium and a discussion with or staff astronomers afterwards. The film showing will be “Two Small Pieces of Glass: The Amazing Telescope.” Admission is $3.50 or free if you are a member or a student of Darton College. Contact, Allison Young at (229) 432-6955.
